The time approaches!

Chilliwack CBC is for Saturday Dec 16. The Precount is on Tuesday Dec 12 at the Chilliwack Library.

I do not know the dates for the Agassiz or Abbotsford (Central Valley) counts yet, although the pre-count meeting for Agassiz will be on the 12th at the same time as for Chilliwack. Both these counts usually occur in early January.

Im in for Chilliwack as always, but doubtful for the other two although Id sure like to try to do at least one more.

Hope some members make it to some. Even if you've never done one or doubt your ability, those are not problems! It's a lot of fun and skill level does not matter at all.

Hi, everyone.

The Abbotsford-Mission CBC will be Friday December 29 this year. We would welcome any and all central and eastern valley birders to participate with us, whatever your level of birding skills. Several already do, so you could join with others from your end to cover one of our most interesting sections if you wish. Sorry, it doesn't have ptarmigan, but it does produce a good list most years

If you're interested, reply to this message and I will put you in touch with Lynn Miller, the count coordinator.

We usually take the Saturday of that weekend for our count, but White Rock, who usually take the Sunday of the same weekend, have moved their count to the Saturday this year to avoid New Years Eve, hence our move to Friday.

A number of our regular counters have also done the White Rock count over the years, so we can't conflict with the White Rock date.

Several of us also enjoy participating in the Chilliwack and Harrison counts, so we are awaiting final confirmation of the Harrison date, hoping it won't conflict with White Rock.

Sorry this took so long and that the Harrison count had to be on the 30. Between publishing deadline and counter availability I had to pick this date.
The Chilliwack count is Dec. 16 and the Harrison count is Dec. 30.
The Precount is on Tuesday Dec 12 at the Chilliwack Library 7:00-9:00pm.

Id like to do a couple counts this year, and since the 30th looks bad for me, I'm going to see if Abbotsford will work.

Anyone else interested or planning on coming out? No experience needed, just interest! You can ask any questions you wish here or come out to the meeting (which is very informal!) to see things first hand.

my wife and I are going to be missing our annual count, the Mission-Abbotsford, this year, due to a family vacation, and am interested in at least doing one count this year. If you still need some birders, then you can sign my wife Carolynn and I up for the Chilliwack count.

hey Stan - you can sign me (daniel van der Kroon) up for the CBC Abbotsford-Mission once again. Have done Willband + Fishtrap the last couple years with Ted and one year with Glen as well - I would be fine to do that again. I do live close to Downes Bowl so that is the best site for me survey.

I don't think I'll be at the CVN meeting so you'll have to reach me by e-mail or this board.

This reminds me to make sure things are set up with Lynn as I told him when I saw him at the Eagle Festival that Id do a little part of the Abbotsford count. There is a little area right on the Abby-Chilliwack border that will suit my needs for that day. Will bird the morning, run an errend and then go back for the afternoon with my little guy and count new species or high numbers of species already seen.

Sorry, I haven't checked this site for a couple of days.

Janne, I told Lynn earlier that you had posted that you'd be joining us for the Abbotsford count, and that Karl was uncertain. I'll pass this latest info on to him.

Dan, we have been counting on you and we assumed you would do your regular routine of checking through Downes Bowl first thing in the morning, and then joining up with the others to head to Fishtrap or Willband or another area in the vicinity.

We appreciate all of you participating again this year. Gord, it will be great to have your assistance even for part of the day.

Lynn will contact each of you to confirm. I'm sure he has phone numbers for Janne and Dan from previous years, but you can always contact him at 604-826-3839 or [e-mail] if you need to. Or contact me at [e-mail] and give me your email address so we can keep in touch with details.

I hope I will see some of you at the Chilliwack count also. Lynn and I and perhaps one or two others would like to do the Lake Erroch/Harrison Bay section again this year, if that works. It's close and convenient for us.

I think Lynn is also planning to help with the Harrison count, but all the rest of us (about 6 guys) will be doing the White Rock count that day, unfortunately.

Gord, I received your personal email sent to Lynn and me, asking about arrangements for your part of the Abby/Msn CBC, and I replied to your work email shown there, but got an auto reply that you're out of the office, so I'll post here instead.

Basically I indicated that I don't know what Lynn arranged with you at the Eagle Festival for the 29th count, so I'll leave it to him to follow up on that. As for the pre-count meeting on Dec. 12, you may not see us there, as we just arrange each year with Denis to cover the area north of the Fraser on the 16th, and we're hoping that will work this year also. So you should contact Lynn at his email [e-mail] and give him your home email or phone number so he can reply to you re the 29th. Otherwise he will have gotten the same auto reply as I got.

If he can't get a map and checklist to you, there is a possibility some of us may come to the pre-count on the 12th, so something should work. If you can't get your count results in to us any other way, you could email them to me or Lynn afterward.

Lynn's access to email is sometimes limited, so if you don't hear from him by Monday please email me and I will remind him.

Ok Stan that sounds good. Downes Bowl is a lot of ground to cover for one set of eyes and a dubious pair of binoculars, so if there is enough manpower it would be great to be able to bird it together with someone.
