Thanks Stan. Lynn wrote me back so things are moving forward. Brent I suggest leaving the highway at Yale Rd exit (the next one after Lickman) and head north onto Yale Rd W. At the first lights after the overpass (not the overpass over the highway, obviously) turn right onto Cheam Ave and drive past the Chevron and A & W. From lights right after the A & W (the next lights after your turn off of Yale Rd W actually) turn left onto 1st Ave. The Library is a right turn at the next lights. You'll see Salish Pond. There's been a green heron there for two summers now, offering great views. Also, a American white pelican spent a day there in 1998! Here's a map. I posted where the bird shop is for a landmark for us birders to go from. Look forward to seeing you there.

It was good to see you, Brent, Dave, Janne and Denis at the count meeting this evening.
Brent, were you given another route to count in addition to the ones I got? I think there was a small area left and because we're teaming up this year (and Ive done 3 routes before no problem) so I suspect you got one. We can take my car after I remove the child seats to make room for gear. There's a good parking area on a busy road that should be secure for your car. I plan to start first light for certain, and if the baby gets me up sooner, I may prowl for an owl.
Weather looks nice for the weekend, possibly a tad chilly. Just so long as the wind keeps down. I dont like the high winds too much, and if there's wind, it will be the strongest in our area.
I did not find out about the potluck and submitting the count results. Denis or Janne will know. Im assuming it will be at Hazel's townhouse meeting/rec building in Sardis starting around 6ish as last year. I plan to attend this year for at least a little while as it's always a lot of fun. Ill find out the details or those more in the know will fill us in.

Hi Gord, Caroynn and I were given route 23, which encompasses Chilliwack River road from the Vedder crossing to the Slesse Trailor Park. If you think we can combine the three I am game. Let me know and we can meet early Saturday.

Brent, that might be a bit of a haul. I was hoping the extra route would be connected or very close to the area I do. I fear with the driving (about 20 min drive from my area to the top of yours) and that the Chilliwack River Valley has a good amount of land to cover (easily a day project as there is a lot of crown land available to walk) that both areas will suffer in the means of not getting covered as well as they might. Thoughts? It would have been great to do the count with you guys, but sadly I think it's a bit of a stretch.

Gord, too bad. Good luck on your end and hopefully something rare ends up in your neck of the woods.

Not that anybody needs to be reminded (except myself ), but I was just thinking that with a wild three-storm week, the CBC might yield a few stranger sightings (maybe a long-billed curlew or something...okay, so maybe that's going a bit too far ), especially with the biggest storm due to hit Thurs night/Friday day. My hopes are up, anyway! ;D ;D P.S. I'm going with Dave, unless he still is planning his revenge for driving back from Hope Slide last time to get a pair of binos from his house after I realized I forgot mine!!
