let's add Redbreasted Sapsucker and White-throated Sparrow for us today. Nice to hear that the Ruby-crowned Kinglets are back. Excellent to hear that the Lewis's are still there!

John Vooys and I climbed Dewdney Mtn today(an 11.5 hour grunt)! Dewdney Mountain is 7k east of Mt Outram. We saw many of the alpine birds, including many Horned larks, White-tailed Ptarmigan and saw at least 3 Lapland Longspurs(first time for both us outside of Iona or high Acrtic). Harriers were cruising the slopes, and an American Kestral made a long speedy dive into an alpine bowl. Were Clarkes Nutcrackers on the list yet...we saw them as well! A couple of Dippers were playing around on an alpine pond at about 6000'. Ed

Not a rare bird sighting but kind of funny. Actually, I have never seen one in the lower mainland....a magpie flying around Towne Cinema tonight. We went under the canopy where you line up to buy tickets and suddenly the bird flew in and sat in the rafters, looking down as though for a handout. It looked really comfortable with humans...perhaps a pet?!

Ed, funny story! Every once in a while a magpie shows up in the Lower Mainland. It's been a couple years since I heard about the last one. Certainly a bird of note.
Good job on the Bonaparte's Kev! ;D

Hello birders,
I saw a Barred Owl on some power lines on Mt. Woodside a couple of nights ago.

Hello birders,
I've been hearing lots of Red Crossbills on my runs around Harrison Mills.

Good additions Brent. Ive always noticed good numbers of Red Crossbills in your area during the fall and winter.
Let me know if you ever get a spotted owl. ;D
I have California and Herring Gull to add. Ran into a flock of about 75 gulls in a field today. Getting the gull excitement going (much to the good natured disgust of my wife who knows that trips into town in the near future will be extended as I stop to scan flocks of gulls.)
