Fall migration increases throughout the month of August. Shorebirds will continue to make their way through our region. Harrison Lake and even the turf farms in Sumas Prairie can offer a great opportunity to see them. The migration of songbirds will increase as the month progresses. Great Blue Heron Reserve and Island 22 are reliable locations to see migrating songbirds.

I had a very young YR warbler at my water feature last week.

From Mt. Outram today:
-Northern Harrier (a pair hunting)
-Golden eagle (One buzzed just 10m over us. We could hear its wings!)
-American pipit
-Grey-crowned rosy finch
-Hummingbird sp (There was a pair actively feeding in the high subalpine. They were not Rufous, but I couldn’t get a good enough look to confidently ID them.)

I had my first Wilson's warbler of the season today at my place. Birds are definitely on the move!

Baird’s Sandpiper and Red-necked Phalarope at Harrison Lagoon this morning. Also a Townsends Warbler on Elk Mtn.
