Can someone confirm the id for me? I am fairly certain, but would really appreciate a second opinion in case there is something I'm not seeing here. thanks! ps. sorry for the lousy photo, but I had to take this at 1600 iso just to get anything at all since the weather is less than ideal today.

You got it bang on! White throat, little bit of yellow above the eye (supraloral) and little pattern on the breast and sides. A great sighting! I like the picture a great deal! For 1600, that's pretty good!!!

Nice find and nice picture Terri. Is it possible for others to view this bird? I wouldn't mind getting it on my list. See you in the field Len Jellicoe jellicoes@shaw.ca

Wow! If this beautiful White-throated Sparrow qualifies as a "lousy" picture, I better stop posting pictures as I would hate to know what they qualify as . Nice picture of an awesome bird. I would love to add it to my backyard list. Feel free to send it over my way. Cheam Lake could use its second sighting! Thanks for posting, and a great addition to our challenge of 100 birds. Dave

Dave, don't stop posting pictures! I based my 'lousy' rating on seeing the photo at full resolution...where the noise really stands out.... that isn't nearly as obvious in the smaller size here...but I did overexpose it a bit and the contrast is poor. I know I can usually take better photos than this. Len, I didn't see it later in the day so I don't know if it is still around. if it is, then yes we can arrange something so others get a chance to see it. though with some of the puddles in my yard from the rain and melting snow, you might need hip waders. ;D ;D ;D
