This one showed up Sunday. Not sure but I think it's an Ash Throated... Anyone out there good at flycatcher ids? I know this isn't a great shot, but it shows a rufous tail.

Sorry, I should have said, I think it's an Ash Throated... but I'm guessing due to range.

I've been looking every morning since sunday... No luck so far. Lots of activity! This morning I think I saw a Cassin's Vireo... Very obvious 'spectacles' around the eyes. Another first!

Wow wetlander!!!!! If that Ash-throated Flycatcher shows up again, please post, email, shout from your rooftop, etc!!! That is a very unusual bird for the valley. At least someone else besides Gord is pulling these "high class" birds out of their backyard. Wow! By the way, Cassin's Vireo is an excellent yardbird as well. It just pales in comparison to the Ash-throated. Good on you for getting pictures of an unusual bird. Thanks for posting, Dave

Hi wetland,
I was wondering if you could give some directions to where you saw the Ash-throated Flycatcher? I may have some time to look for the bird this weekend. Great find!!!
Thanks, Brent Schmor Abbotsford

Sorry Dave, So far no repeat. I will let you guys know if I see it again.
Brent: As your coming over the Agassiz/Rosedale bridge into Agassiz, there is a turn off to the Left - Whelpton Rd. At the end of Whelpton, turn Left again on to Tuyttens Rd. I'm on Tuyttens just outside the dyke. Just before the dyke, there is a bit of room to park. Along the dyke and the fill road over the slough are lots of willows and assorted brush. Great habitat - lots of birds... except when folks are out walking their dogs - or when the farm tractors go by.
I'm biased, but I live in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Kevin

If I remember the place right, there's a road called Whorly Road if you go straight over the dyke and over the slough. It's about 500 metres long and is just a single lane dirt road. But the habitat here is AWESOME. There is a house at the end of this road and Im certain they have a dog or three. I suggest walking 400 metres then stopping!
I agree on your sentiment, Kevin. That is a great little area! Keep your eyes open!

Yes, you remember right. And everybody out here has dogs, including me! We've a real problem with Coyotes.
Unfortunately the area is also a bit of a dog walk the "City folk" of Agassiz.
