Hi all, This isn't a very good quality picture, but I'd appreciate any ideas if anybody has any. My first guess would be a Savannah as that is probably the most common (then again, maybe not!), but could it be a Vesper Sparrow? I thought that the strong white supraloral on its forehead might strengthen the case for Vesper Sparrow. However, I think there are a lot of regional variations in Savannah Sparrow as well. Other? Thanks in advance. Jeff

Wow, I dont know either! I dont think it's a Savannah, but like you mentioned, they do vary regionally. Hmmm...? Looks like a cross between a song sparrow and savannah. Anyone else have some thoughts? It could be a young sparrow.

Kathy, you just might be right. Song sparrows love to vary regionally so a young one of a different population might look like this. Sometimes even the young of our 'common' birds can confuse!
