My wonderful wife gave me an early birthday present before the trip. A Birdjam Ipod like Thor demonstrated at Cheam Wetlands recently (for those of you who know...) Anyway, I had a great time matching Flycatcher calls with it. It was great for confirming Willow, Hammond's and Pacific-Slope on the trip. However, there are those who do not speak when you want them to. They are also the same ones who usually pose nicely for the camera. Here is the first one.... It was on Rd 22 by Osoyoos in the famous Bobolink fields on the way to Black Sage Road, for those who know the area....lost of fields, creek nearby, fairly wet ground..... And here is the second, from Green Lake Road in the dry Ponderosa Pine forest. It was towards the OK Falls part of Green Lake Road. Well, what do you think? Dave

I think the second guy is a olive-sided flycatcher based on the strong 'vest' and body proportions. The first one, I dont think I can hazard a guess. If forced, Id think willow. Habitat sounds good for willow too. I like that bobolink road!

Thanks, Gord..
Willow was my best guess for the first one as well. I was going to type that it was sitting in front of a willow tree on Rd. 22, but thought that would give away my hunch and steer somebody's thoughts.
Olive-sided seems the logical suspect, but it seemed too small. I have seen lost of Olive-sided at Manning and this guy seemed distinctly smaller than them....I don't know what else would have such a clear vest though. I also should add that even though it was in a Ponderosa Pine forest, it chose to flycatch from the only decidious tree around.
Thanks for the thoughts,
Dave
