While not countable for the monthly list, I thought it would be noteworthy to report a L.E. Owl that I picked up from the side of a road in Agassiz this morning. Presumably it had been hit by a car during the night and was still alive when I came upon it. Unfortunately it died while I was holding it.
It is now in the custody of the Canadian Wildlife Service as all dead or injured raptors must be turned over to the authorities.
These are never a common species but there may be more around than thought.

birderbert, Back in the early nineties I used to see daytime roosts of LEOW in small numbers both at Boundary Bay and Westham Island. The numbers have dropped off quite dramatically since then. The Fraser Delta has still probably got more of this species in the province though as far as I know.
