Bert: Cool! Here are some shots of an unknown beetle seen recently on Savary island up on the Sunshine Coast (July 9). It looks a lot like yours but I'm not up on the subtleties of bug ID so I would never claim that without confirmation from a bug pro. It also looks like it has a fuzzy/hairy underside. They're big too! I'm guessing ours was 1-1/2 inches long. If I knew the gauge of the screen I could be more precise - 17 squares times the square length . Kevin Nanaimo BC (Day 3!)
