Hi- Just observed a second Rubber Boa a week after the first one on the same trail. Beautiful, healthy specimens. Two different colours- first was greenish and about 75 cm long today's was brownish and about 60 cm long Gord, could a sign be placed at the entrance to the Kettle Valley trail to the Othello Tunnels (off of Kettle Valley Road) warning cyclists and pet owners to take extra caution on the trail? Thanks Deb

We've been walking or cycling this Kettle Valley Railroad trail for years and haven't seen N. Rubber Boa there until now. These two NR boas could have easily been mistaken for sticks on the trail but luckily I have some experience recognizing them from a distance (snake phobia!!) since we use to have quite a few in the area where we live. Interestingly, the habitat where we saw them was again part of the historic KVR near our property. Unfortunately we have not seen the Rubber Boas locally due to a large house development on our road which pretty much obliterated their hibernation area. By the way, you can report a BC Reptile Sighting at: www.bcreptiles.ca/reportsightings.htmAs I was leaving the trail area, the FOY Northern Alligator Lizard dashed across the road. Deb
