Hi all: I haven't seen too many reports about Evening Grosbeaks being seen locally, so here is one. A flock of about 25 of these birds were seen in the subdivision above Kawkawa Lake in Hope, this a.m. There are a number of folks who feed birds in this area, and I see these birds here every winter; ( and every other season, for that matter ). The airport, which is almost perpetually in the shade now, had one Downy Woodpecker, and a Red-shafted Flicker this afternoon that I could see, as I slid around on the icy perimeter road. Lots of chickadees, and Red breasted Nuthatches at the backyard feeder. Cheers from chilly Hope. Thor

Haven't seen any Evening Grosbeaks here in Harrison Mills, but we had to make a quick up to Tunkwa Lake on Saturday (little bit north of Logan Lake) and freinds of ours that caretake the provincial park there are feeding the birds and they have Evening Grosbeaks coming to their feeders. If you think Hope is chilly.....head north! It was minus 6 in Hope when we went through, minus 20 over most of the Coquilla and minus 11 at Tunkwa....that is as warm as it got there that day!
