Hello birders,
I spent the morning birding Eagle Point Park. Some interesting sightings to report: 18 Tundra Swans with 8 Trumpeters, three Dunlin, one Pileated Woodpecker, six Red Crossbills, and seven Herring Gulls. The water level has dropped significantly opening up a lot of mud flat. Because of the shallowness of the water, very few diving ducks were noted. Eagles all over the place.
Other species includes: Mallard Gadwall Northern Pintail Green-winged Teal Hooded Merganser Common Merganser American Wigeon Bufflehead Killdeer Glaucous-winged Gull Mew Gull Belted Kingfisher Great Blue Heron Song Sparrow Fox Sparrow Golden-crowned Kinglet Ruby-crowned Kinglet Steller's Jay Black-capped Chickadee Red-winged Blackbird European Starling Dark-eyed Junco Northwestern Crow Common Raven
Last night, a long way off in the distance, I could faintly hear a Western Screech Owl calling under the full moon in chorus with the pack of Coyotes howling.
Good birding, Brent Schmor Harrison Mills

Hi Brent- My wife and I were out at harrison today-great day for birding. Anyways to add to your list we also had common goldeneyes and in the bay 4- canvasbacks and at deroche 3 northern shovelers and 2 eurasian wideons. In Harrison Bay we counted 160 swans with at least 10 tundra. Kathy S. mention yesterday that the number of young swans seemed low. Of the 160 we saw only 16 were juv. On our way home we did stop at mataqui flats and saw app. 75 swans with 19 juv.
