This afternoon at Island 22 had a similar to a visit in late September. But this time, I saw a white-throated sparrow first before the rusty blackbirds. Both were at the end of the dyke at the "Private property" gate. One of the blackbirds (male and female) was singing. Sounded similar to a Brewer's blackbird's song. They were up in a cottonwood tree easily seen from the dyke. The park was busy with lots of 'winter' birds. Only three yellow-rumped warblers. Yesterday had a few Lapland longspurs mixed in with American pipits. Oh, and since I can talk about ruffed grouse again, I saw one yesterday and today at the same place! ;D ;D ;D At Cheam Lake were three horned grebes and a white-fronted goose with the Canada geese. Two of the three grebes from Friday morning when they came in close to shore.

Nice sightings (again!! ) Gord. I must be in the wrong places as I seem to see only common birds. Well, actually I saw some birds so high up in the trees that I couldn't see them well enough to know what they were...and now that I'm typing this I realize I had forgotten to post a (very bad) photo of a bird I saw on Friday that I need help identifying... Look forward to seeing the picture, Terri! And if you're out in the field looking at birds, you are never in the wrong place!! If a rare bird is not there, there is not much one can do about it!
