Yesterday took a quick walk at Island 22 with the little guy while the even smaller ones had their nap. It was dead at the beginning but we soon found a small group of three Rusty Blackbirds near where they were before. One male and two females this time. There was also a White-throated Sparrow nearby. The Rusty Blackbirds were bathing and poking around the edge of a large puddle. Lots of Yellow-rumped Warblers who dominate now. Two Townsend's Warblers added variety though. Three Violet-green Swallows overhead with Vaux's Swift were neat to see later on like this. The Rusty bathing. Chubby Robin!! (My little guy liked him) A Downy and Hairy Woodpecker were busy down low giving great views. On Oct 1, we also went for a quick walk in the high winds. It was difficult birding. We did see three Black-throated Grey Warblers among over 70 Yellow-rumps. Also, there were flycatchers. One, which I got a poor picture of, I could not get a good ID on. I suspect Hammond's? Not long after, we saw two flycatchers flying about. One was chasing the other constantly. The one doing the chasing would sit in the open and for sure ID'd it as a Pacific-slope Flycatcher. The one it was chasing I could never get a good look at it. Either it was the same guy from earlier or another one.
