I would really like to know how to encourage birds, especially small ones, to hop up on a nearby rock and just pose there while I try to figure out what they are and take their picture. It would be so helpful if all birds could behave in this manner, like the very cooperative lapland longspurs and savannah sparrows that I encountered at Harrison last week. Marsh wrens, are you listening?
Those are great shots of the marsh wren! I haven't seen one taking a dust bath, but maybe I just need to be more patient. I have several pictures with parts of a marsh wren in view - need an x-ray lens to eliminate the reeds from the frame in most of my shots.
