Went for a morning walk. What a great place for migrants! Birds everywhere. Sometimes one didnt know where to look next!
Nothing spectacular this morning, but lots of great views of many species. Highlight was a imm Cooper's hawk. At first, I was not sure if it was a Coopers or Sharp-shinned as it blasted past. It landed in a tree further down where a man and his dog were walking. I was sure it would be scared away, but it didnt! They walked right by! I hurried over and ended up getting the best views ever of a Cooper's hawk. I circled his tree a couple times and got some pictures. Wish Bill was there with his camera!
Lots of little flycatchers about. Several went unidentified. A Hammond's was a nice find. I suspected it was one but it finally made some call notes and even a slip-shod attempt at a song that made me confident to give it a name. I got one (picture) of a Pacific-slope flycatcher
Ever since I talked about not having vireo pictures, they are cooperating nicely.
