Just before 2pm at home today, Marion noticed a crow going nuts. She then noticed it was mobbing a White owl!!! She ran into the home and got her camera. This was the best shot she managed before she had to go to work. Haven't seen it around this afternoon, but will keep my eyes open.

Wow, nice work Marion! One of the latest, if not the latest, record for Snowy Owl in our region. Weird to see it in a tree like that.
Thanks for posting it Kev.

A Snowy Owl in late April is fantastic find. Let us know if you see it again. Wonder why it is still south? It looks healthy enough from the photo I think - no disheveled feathers anyway but how about the droopy wing ? From the colouration it could be a female or a juvenile. Excellent discovery Marion. I believe however, that Janne pointed out the reason for it being here at this time of year. That bird looks unwell and is probably just hanging on.
If it stays around it might be a candidate for a rehabilitation facility such as OWL in Delta.
Just amazing what you guys get around your place!

Here 's the snowy in Agassiz. He doesn't look to bad. I talked with Murray and he to has seen the young owl also. Lets hope he is just tired and hungary..

Spotted flying over our back field tonight just after 8pm. I hope you're right Gary and I donate all the rodents on our island to fatten em up!
