I had some photos of a slightly ratting looking female Red-naped Sapsucker sent to me yesterday. This was on private property in Hope. Nice find, Muriel! Not an easy species to find west of Manning Park.

I did a google image search to double check, and this really looks like a Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker to me. Am I wrong? *Edit - I just checked the range maps. Apparently I am wrong. I just noted the total lack of a red nape. Is it more or less noticeable seasonally?*Yellow Bellied Red-Naped

There is a bit of red on the nape on this bird but the picture I put up does not show it as well as another shot does. The white patch between the bill and the red throat would also have helped too but is not apparent on this photo. I like how you're thinking though!
