It was a miserable windy and wet morning here in Aldergrove and I had promised to put up the Christmas lights...(I could have done them in the sun last weekend, but where's the fun in that!)... so my wife and I sat with our morning coffee watching the feeders instead. We were treated to our relatively new troupe of seven Eurasian Collared Doves around our feeders. They have been by on a reasonably regular routine for a few weeks now. Very shortly after that we had a visit by our first of the season Pileated Woody who proceeded to hang around for the best part of an hour. I guess it was a hint that the house was in need of a bit of upkeep, as the Woodpecker continually pounded into our deck posts, playing hide and seek with us from behind the post. It's pretty bad when he's finding more to eat from our deck posts as compared to the rotted timber in the nearby forest! Eventually he settled onto the feeder although nothing is of sufficient scale to satisfy him for long. I managed a few photos although it was dark and the shutter speeds were very slow. I have included one from the tree next to our yard. With luck he will be back as a more regular visitor and will be welcome as long as he's not chipping at our abode...

Ian, fantastic picture. Almost all of the ones I see are high up in the trees.
