Randy and I went to a few places today. First stop was White Rock Pier. Lots of Scoters, mostly White-winged. Lots of waterfowl in general. Saw a Red-throated Loon just passed the pier. We were very certain there was another one as well but it was out farther and hard to see. We spotted a Long-tailed Duck flying. There may have been another three flying but couldn't confirm. The surprise was a racoon right at the end of the pier. It's tail was very short and it didn't seem 100% healthy.

Went to Blackie Spit but it was closed. Instead we made an earlier than expected arrival at 104th Boundary Bay. We were hoping the Tropical Kingbird was still present. After looking for about 10-15 minutes, two people pointed it out to us. Lifer for both of us. Number 299 for myself, only eight of those have been seen outside of BC. A Northern Shrike was the other highlight at 104th.

Went to 72nd where a Palm Warbler was seen yesterday and a Long-eared Owl. Didn't see either one. Randy's keen eye spotted two American Tree Sparrows. There was a Short-eared Owl that had a rodent in its talons and a Harrier tried to get it. Quite entertaining to watch.
