This afternoon on the Loop Trail at Cheam Lake (about 150 yards in, right where the trees start to grow and the trail goes slightly uphill) I was clearing some large branches off the trail when a call note of a sparrow caught my ear. Turns out a Swamp Sparrow was providing free advice on branch tossing techniques. I think this is species 185 for the park. Funny, I just realized that on the last day of last month I also saw a Swamp Sparrow. ;D This cute little Pacific Wren also had a suggestion or two to share. Despite my noisy activity, there were quite a few birds about including a flock of Black-capped Chickadees, a Ruby-crowned and several Golden-crowned Kinglets, a Downy Woodpecker and a couple Song Sparrows keeping me company in the rain.

What a great sighting Gord! We are very envious. You got great shots of the Swamp Sparrow and the little Pacific Wren! That is very hard to do with the light you had available. Also, the Red-necked Loon was a nice sighting too! Island 22 has been producing a lot of wonderful birds!

Thanks and you're welcome, Ken.
I heard the (or another) Swamp Sparrow this afternoon near the same area as Wednesday.
