My parents and I made three stops today. First one was White Rock. It was very windy and the waves were high. Lots of Western Grebes, probably about 30. Horned Grebes were also numerous. The Scoters, mostly Surf with a few White-winged, were not close to the pier like they normally are. A couple of Common Loons and a small flock of Dunlin were also present. Red-necked Grebe Next stop was Blackie Spit. Always a nice visit. Lots of Wigeons and Pintails on the spit. Two Marbled Godwits and a Long-billed Curlew were also present. When I got home I found out that there was/is a Tropical Kingbird really close by. Weird how this species sometimes migrates north. Reifel was the final stop. Had to wait about 20 minutes to cross the bridge as they had problems with it. Lots of Snow Geese in the fields before Reifel. Once in the park we spotted this Peregrine Falcon. Best location I have been to, to take pictures of Wood Ducks Snow Geese We heard two Virginia Rails calling. There were also two Northern Shrikes on the outer dykes. The usual species were there. Always nice to get out.
