I'm here now and just at the start of the dog area, about 50m west of the boat launch is a calling white breasted nuthatch. I got pictures and video which I will post later.

For the last few months, I have been walking past the dog area but today there was a decent amount of gulls on the sand bar. I wanted to see if there were any Bonaparte's Gulls among them. I heard a nuthatch calling, immediately I figured White-breasted Nuthatch, and sure enough it was. This is the sixth record in our area. It is also the third one this year. Trudi had one at Strawberry Flats and there was one at Slesse Park in January. New species for the Fraser Valley for me and only my second one. Also a new species for Island 22. I checked as I was walking back to see if it was still there. I didn't see/hear it and at one point I thought it was calling from the northwest portion of the equestrian area. Not great pictures and my video didn't turn out.
