Damion and I went to Boundary Bay in the morning. Unfortunately, we hit a low high tide. Still a good number of shorebirds but quite a few were a long way out which made IDing them impossible.
We parked at 104th, walked a little ways east, then walked west to 96th along the dyke.
A few Pintails have arrived already at the bay. As we made our way west, the tide was coming in and shorebirds began to appear. Lots of Western Sandpipers and Black-bellied Plovers. Spotted a few Least Sandpipers close to the dyke. There was also a small flock of Baird's Sandpipers
Two of them
In front of the mansion near 96th were lots of yellowlegs, a few Red-necked Phalaropes and a couple of Pectoral Sandpipers. While we were observing the birds three Peregrine Falcons made an appearance. At one point one of the falcons almost succeeded in getting a yellowlegs.
Very nice outing with some good success with shorebirds given that it was a low high tide.
