Walking near the beach at Green Point on Harrison Lake was a very obliging Alligator Lizard lounging in the sun. This is a creature I used to see quite frequently but this one was my first sighting in several years.
of interest was an obvious regrowth of the tail which they give up quite readily if captured.

Neat sighting Murray. I have only seen a few in Oregon, never in B.C.

Hi We regularly see these northern alligator lizards on our property. These photos were taken yesterday of one basking in the sun with a recently regenerated tail. This is probably the same lizard that I saw this past June with a tail that it had "shed".

Great shots! Thanks for sharing them. Nice to see its tail is coming back nicely. That one looks more brown than the ones Ive seen in the past which are much more grey. Did not know they varied like that.

They love dry talus-slopes. Generally in southwest BC, if you find Pikas, you'll find Alligator Lizards. Lindeman Lake is a great place to see them.
