Yesterday Kathy photographed a nice male Common Grackle in the Harrison Mills area. This is our first confirmed sighting for the Upper Fraser Valley and the second for our checklist area. The other record is of a female at Lightening Lakes in Manning Park a few years back.

That is a very good sighting for our region Kathy.
They used to be incredibly rare west of the Rockies but now in they seem to be pretty common in Fernie and even Cranbook according to Ebird. I know Martin posted the expansion of this species with the GBBC. It will be interesting to see how far they go.
