Yesterday I stopped to check the big flooded field at Whatcom Rd in Abbotsford. It was busy! I counted at least 15 greater yellowlegs working the edge of the water. Most were in breeding colours with just a couple still working their way towards it. There were also 40 green-winged teal, 30 northern pintails, 25 northern shovelers, 50 Am wigeon, mallards and even a small flock of buffleheads. What fantastic habitat. One can only imagine what a site like that dedicated to birds and away from Highway #1 will produce.
I also noticed the day before on my way out from Langley 3-4 greater yellowlegs in a pond at the 200th street overpass between the onramp and the highway.
It's a good time of year! Anything can show up anywhere.

hay Ghord,
I stopped by McCallum flooded field on Friday about 5:00-5:30 and while I was there 6 more greater yellowlegs came in for a total of 22. I saw 6 ruddy ducks and a lone American coot to ad to the list. What a great site! Denis

Ruddy ducks are a great addition to the list that I might not have expected to see. Cool find!
