Great bird Dave! I know Rick and I had speculated as to how long it would take before someone spotted one up there.
I wonder what other goodies await?

Dave, very good pictures to go along with a great sighting.
I haven't seen a Cinnamon Teal there yet.

Your right, Murray, who knows what is next! How about a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher? Didn't Thor see one there one time?

Dave, I'll let Thor answer for sure, but I believe the only one he saw was with myself over at Botanical Beach which was a follow-up to a find that Rick Toochin made while living over that way.
I know he spoke to the lady who works at the airport and she had seen a very long-tailed bird that fit the description of STFL.

Murray has an excellent memory. The second hand report I received from the Hope Airport manager was the closest I came to seeing a Scissor tailed Flycatcher at the Hope Airport. Jack Delair, and/or Rick Toochin could fill in the gaps on the first one that was seen there. I did make the trek over to Botannical Beach on Vancouver Is. to see the one there, and I believe I and birder/photograher Mike Yip, and another birder were the last to report seeing this bird, as it fed amongsgt the kelp- an amazing place to see a Scissor Tail!! On the Lark Sparrow front, I recorded that bird on September 22 2001 as a backyard bird when I was living in Hope along the Coquihalla River, probably part of the Fall migration process. Out of town, I spent part of yesterday patrolling the White Lake area over here, hoping to find a Loggerhead Shrike or a Sage Thrasher. Not surprisingly, no luck there, but the Brewer's Sparrows were up and singing in the sage enjoying the sunshine, and there were a couple of Lewis' Woodpeckers hawking from some nearby trees. Cheers, Thor
