Thanks to Murray who posted that it may be a Virginia's Warbler. Looking at it closely it may be a Nashville Warbler also. Here is the picture in question.

Here is another picture of the bird in question. Personally, I do not think this is a Virginia's Warbler. I have looked at pictures of Virginia's Warbler on the net and that doesn't look like the bird I saw yesterday. A different looking Nashville Warbler is more likely IMO. I won't be able to head up there today as I have other things to do. If anyone is interested I saw the bird in question at the first corner of the Alexandria Bridge road just before the train tracks.

Would be a quite pale Nashville Warbler female. The second photo might have more of a Nashville feel to it with a hooded look but the species are very closely related so that and no experience on my part I don't have much to add. The first photo sure is neat with the patch on the breast and some on the undertail coverts. I'm sure there will be more insights as others have a look. Good work, Chris!

Turns out that this is not a Virginia's Warbler. It was a great learning experience for myself as I didn't even think to look for a Virginia's Warbler. I didn't realize how close they can look to a Nashville Warbler. The first BC Virginia's Warbler is still waiting out there.

What factors determined that it was not a Virginia's warbler? Seems to me that Nashville's tend to have more yellow on their front, which this one doesn't have... Was it the yellow on the throat?
I continue to be impressed at how great a learning experience these forums are!

Randy good question. From what I understand, having been looking into this, a Virginia's Warbler would have less smaller yellow patch and below that would have gray, not white.

Mary and Randy, nice to hear your feedback. On the bird in question after reading up on it are the wings that should be blue-grey similar to the head. The pictures seem to show a more green tone or at least a colour that contrasts with the head which certainly would strongly support the Nashville Warbler identification. Pictures can be a little misleading though, especially with one or two pictures of a bird that is not being considerate to sit still in good light. Cant always take them 100% at face value without attaching some objectiveness.
