Fellow Fraser Valley Birders,
I finally got home at a decent hour from work and took a walk around the wetlands. The lake was very empty, only the usual Hooded Mergansers, Lesser Scaup, Ring-necked Duck, Bufflehead, C. Goose, Pied-Billed Grebe, etc present in lower than normal numbers.
For land birds, there were about 50 Tree Swallows catching what little bugs there are out, lots of noisy Robins and Red-winged Blackbirds, Marsh Wren, Winter Wren, and Varied Thrush were letting their presense be known as well. Chickadees, Song Sparrows, etc were around also. A Cooper's Hawk silenced things for a few minutes as it flew through the woods. Other than the swallows, it was still fairly 'winter quiet'.
Enjoy the sun!
