Hi everyone,
After having been away for a week and very busy the prior week, I finally managed to get out. I was hoping to get out to Chilliwack tomorrow to try and find me an evening grosbeak, but it's not looking promising.
Nonetheless, I took advantage of the lack of rain and wandered through Brydon and up into High Knoll Park. The day started off with finding a mother mallard and 10 babies behind my shed. I guess they had wandered down 53rd trying to get to the lagoon.
My wife and I put up some lattice to guide them through our backyard to the lagoon but I think the mother knocked one of these over and they may have gone back to the street. I'm sure they'll find their way somehow.
Most of the waterfowl species have moved on but others have returned. 29 species at Brydon today. Both eagles were at the nest although I couldn't see if there were any young inside.
At High Knoll I grabbed a handful of FOYs. I found Wilson's and Townsend's warblers and saw and heard multiple pacific slope flycatchers. I picked up a lifer with some nice looks at a vocal Hutton's vireo. Multiple pacific wrens were present as well, providing some good looks.
Here are a few pics from the day - Unfortunately I wasn't able to capture any of the interesting species from the day:
