Hi everyone.
Mostly for those living in Abbotsford or Langley areas, you might be interested in the annual spring bird count in Glen Valley (rural area in northeast Langley and northwest Abbotsford) coming up on the morning of Saturday May 26. I've always found it a lot of fun, but unfortunately I have a conflict this year and can't participate. But I would really encourage anyone who can to join in. It's well organized and the area is interesting. Basically you take the 264th St exit and go north to the area along the Fraser River.
Langley Environmental Partners Society (LEPS) is a strong grass-roots community conservation organization that has done a tremendous amount of good work over the years, and deserves our support.
Here's the message that came out from Lisa Dreves:
The Glen Valley Spring Bird Count will be held on Saturday May 26. As usual we start at 6am to split up into our groups and bird areas. The Glen Valley Watersheds Society will once again be thanking everyone that comes out with a potluck lunch at 12:00.
Location: Fort Wine Co. parking lot, 26151 84 Ave (there is a gate now so we will probably have to park on the road shoulder but there is lots of space)
Time: 6am to 12pm
Bring: anything you need for birding, dress for the weather, and you are invited to bring an item for the potluck if you wish
We will provide: clipboards, pencils, pens, “waterproof” note paper, smiles, snacks
If you have been out for the spring bird count before please let me know if you would like to do the same area you have done in the past.
Please let me know if you are interested in joining us and if you are bringing a friend!
