The weather was far too good today to not head out for a walk. I didn't think it would be as productive as usual - I generally head out in the morning, but today went out between 12:45 and 3 pm.
I nabbed a record number of birds for me at Brydon with 41 species. For me the highlight was a Virginia Rail, which was a lifer. I was looking at the dowitchers on the marsh when I saw it run right through the pack and into the reeds. A few minutes later it emerged and ran across the marsh into another set of reeds. I didn't see it after that.
Another highlight was a yellow-rumped warbler. Rocky had texted me saying he found a couple so I was on the lookout. I saw 1 and heard another.
Here are a couple poor pictures:
I also saw a couple more firsts of the year, including a barn swallow and a common yellowthroat.
I was also hoping for some help with the sparrow below. To me it looks like a Lincoln's but I've never seen a Lincoln's without a raised crest. I saw an obvious Lincoln's in my yard when I arrived back as well so I currently haven't counted this bird as anything in eBird.
Here's my complete list:
Canada Goose 2
Mallard 40
Northern Shoveler 4
Green-winged Teal 10
Canvasback 1
Lesser Scaup 2
Bufflehead 8
Common Goldeneye 1
Common Merganser 1
