I hope everyone is having a great weekend. It was a pretty productive day around my place today. Lots of activity in the yard - multiple sparrow species (fox, song, house, Lincoln, golden-crowned), juncos, towhees, house finches, and of course RW blackbirds and starlings. Added a couple new "yard birds" with a fly by from a harrier and a Bewick's wren that was jumping around in the bushes.
I was treated to a juvenile bald eagle on a power pole right behind my place as well. These pictures were taken from an upstairs window:
My brother is in town this weekend and we went for a walk through the area. At one point we were descended upon by a group of birds containing multiple species - redpolls, siskins, both species of kinglet, BC and CB chickadees, a creeper, and bushtits.
Overall, I tallied 39 species for the day at Brydon. Here's my complete list:
Canada Goose 7
Mallard 50
Northern Shoveler 8
Green-winged Teal 6
Canvasback 6
Lesser Scaup 6
