There was a Hutton's Vireo at Island 22 this morning. It was located at the west end of the off leash dog area in the small rows of cedar trees. I heard a different noise calling and eventually narrowed it down to Hutton's. Gord was at the park and he heard it as well. I have a video of it calling which I will post later. It was hanging out with a small flock of kinglets. Towards the end of my walk I checked for it again but didn't hear/see it. It was very vocal for a few minutes then it went quiet.
It's a new species for me as well.

They can be tough to pick out of a flock because they look very much like a kinglet, but just look for an obese, slugglish Ruby-Crowned. That'll be the one.

Obese Ruby-crowned Kinglet! ;D Great description!
Today it (or another) was in the trees along the dyke this morning at the gatehouse. I heard it calling almost regularly for 10 minutes. If one was to make up a word to go with the sound for a memory aid, Id go with "Sweet! Sweet! Sweet!". Mind you, does make other sounds as well but that seems to be its favourite.
This is the second record for the park so it's probably safe to say the same bird as Chris found last week. Not a common species here by any means.

The Hutton's Vireo continues at Island 22 today. I heard it calling at the southwest portion of the equestrian area of the park.
