It seems like a broken record but the best birding often seems to come when sitting in the Lazy-boy having our morning coffee staring out the patio door into the yard. With the heavy rain this morning we had a great feeder frenzy off our patio and had a feeder-lifer and some first of the Spring visitors. The highlight was our first Common Redpoll at our feeder, and there might even have been two different birds over the hour. The other treat were two male and five female Redwing Blackbirds on the feeder, with as many as nine total up in our adjacent tree. Our coffee list this morning included (at any one time) 3 Flickers, Male Hairy Woodpecker, M&F Downies, 2 Anna's Hummingbirds, Spotted Towhee, 20 Pine Siskin, M&F House Sparrow, 12 American Goldfinches, 4 House Finches, Juncos, Starlings, Crows... but the Redpoll was the icing! I'm sure we would have seen less if the weather was better and we had extricated ourselves from the comfy seats and into the wilds...

hello Ian, Great list - especially with the less common such as the 2 Anna's and the redpoll. Are you participating in the Great Backyard Bird Count this weekend?
Seems to be quite a few Goldfinches around today, I am in S. Langley and also had a flock visit my feeders.
cheers, Pat

Ian, great shot nice variety to your feeders. I am amazed what I can see in/or of from a yard if you look long enough. Haven't seen my Anna's for a while now. No redpolls for me yet, I'm sure they don't exist.

Haven't seen my Anna's for a while now. My Annas are gone also. According to Birds of BC they may be breeding now. Does anyone else have any Annas coming to their feeders?

Great shot.
My Anna'a (two I believe) were seen on Sunday but that was the only time in the last week or so.
