Hi all, headed out to Boundary Bay (72nd. Ave.) and Reifeil last week with my buddy to show him the Owls and to get some shots of
the Snowys in the freshly laid snow.
It was a beautiful day got up early and headed out there for first light. It was absolutely stunning out there, got lots of
shots in fact 2 cards full which is why it has taken a few days to get this post done, as I just cannot post without putting in
pictures. As it was not too cold and an 1-2" of snow the birds seemed quite active.
A shot of the sunrise.
All my shots were taken from the Dyke except for one, as most of the Owls were only sitting at the edge of the washed up
driftwood.
As well as the owls there were other birds busily looking for food, GC Sparrows and WC Sparrows, I was only able to get shots of
the GC's.
Lots of Duck's Mallards and E.Wigeons on the golf course easily 300-400, with the Bald eagles watching and waiting.
Some RW Blackbirds, and a few Western Meadowlarks were around. Unfortunately I was not able to get any decent shots.
Before heading out to Reifel a few more Snowys were posing.
Out to Reifel, the weather had warmed up a bit for the birds, lots of ducks about mooching for seed.
This Downy greeted us at the trail entrance.
The sandhills were out in force as well, I had counted 7.
A few duck shots most the water was frozen except for the edges, they were having a hard time pushing thru the surface ice.
The Barred Owl was in the same tree.
And this Purple Finch feeding.
