Headed this out last Saturday morning for few hours before I started taking down my Christmas lights usually a two day affair,
as I put up a few.
As my wife can attest to if I say a few hours it's usually 4- 6, Don't know what she would expect if I said I'll be gone all day.
Well lots of pics again, at least 17 for this post, if they say that a picture is worth a 1000 words it will save me a heck of a lot of typing.
Started down towards Harrison not really knowing where I was really going, thinking of places to stop I finally decided to stop near Kilby, I only really stopped as it was still a bit dark for the camera and I didn't want to sit around wait for better light at the lagoon.
From Kilby Area
Mallards
GW Teals
L.Scaups
C. Merganser
C.Goldeneye
Bufflehead
GBH
Trumpeter Swans
NW Crows
Starlings
Peregrine Falcon
Redtail Hawks
The last bird not to amazing but I would end up seeing about 13 Red-Tails for the day, I think that is the most that I have seen in half a day of birding.
Off to Harrison next I was hoping to find something there, upon arriving I was dejected in seeing more dogs than birds at the Lagoon. I can't wait for it to start getting lighter a little sooner, as this will give me more time with light before the dog walkers get out of bed.
A few ducks in the lagoon
canvas backs
E.Wigeons
L Scaups
Buffleheads
Headed of to Sasquatch Picnic Area, on the way out saw a few more birds and these at the park. Now some pics.
Downy Woodpecker
Winter Wren, the only shot I managed to get.
Brown Creepers (2)
And a crap load of Kinglets, mostly Golden Crowns and a couple of Ruby-Crowns.
Just so you don't think I got all good shots I must have deleted about 100 blurred shots and a few with just a brach in the frame, here's one of them.
Most of the shots were shot at f5.6, 1250-1600 ISO and that got me only a speed of 60-125, I usually try to shoot with a min. shutter speed of 500. Not alot of light around the trees and bushes, alot of canopy cover.
The Birds for this area were
Canvas Back
A. Wigeons
L.Scaups-10
Buffleheads-20
C. Mergansers-5
horned Grebe
CB Chickadees-12
BC Chickadees
Ravens-2
Downy woodpeckers -2
Golden-Crowned Kinglet-20
Ruby-Crowned Kinglet -2
On the way back home I stopped at the gun club and walked the trail up river.A few commons around but not to many others.
