Hi everyone,
It's been a while since I posted, but thought I would update on my area in case anyone is interested. The canvasback and hooded mergansers from the lagoon have not been around in a couple weeks. There are still pied-billed grebes, a couple shovelers, etc. Yesterday there were countless cackling and Canada geese on the lagoon. Lots of golden-crowned sparrows and a few fox sparrows now in my yard. Some goldfinches are still hanging in there...I hope they stay around for a while but I have a feeling they're leaving soon.
Today I saw my first golden-crowned kinglet of the year and also saw a ruby-crowned kinglet.
Anyway, nothing super exciting to report, just thought I'd touch base. I'm still tallying between 20-30 species each time I go for a walk out back, which I think is pretty good.
I hope everyone is having a great fall!

Randy, enjoy hearing about what you're seeing out your way. How many Cackling Geese do you figure you're seeing there? I havnt seen a goldfinch for a couple weeks now myself.

Hi Gord,
Yesterday there were probably 100-200 cackling geese on the lagoon, which seems to be quite a few for the small body of water. Today I didn't see any however (although I was out much earlier in the day) and there were only about 30 Canada geese.
Yesterday I had 4 goldfinches and today I had 1 on at least 2 separate occasions.
