We just went for a walk over to Eagle Point in the pouring rain. About half way along the trail, on the water side there is a fairly young Alder tree that still has most of it's leaves and a lot of cones - that tree was absolutely alive with Pine Siskens ;D ;D
For anyone intending to be at Eagle Point next weekend for the Eagle Festival, IF the water stays at the level it is now and IF people can be kept on the trail and away from the fore shore - the viewing is about as optimum as it could possibly be. There are literally thousands of gulls out there so a good opportunity to try to spot some rarities. This morning it was Black with Eagles. Lots of Swans and from the calls, both Tundra and Trumpeter. We've seen lots of variety of ducks plus some Coots which are rather unusual for the area. Lets just hope it isn't quite so wet next weekend.

Ohhh! Great flocks to find redpolls in! Glad to hear good flocks of siskens growing! Looking forward to the Festival. Ill be at Eagle Point for the two days. Ill be setting up a cover (cant control the rain) and will be keeping people on the trail (can control that. ) so viewing should be great! A nice rare gull would be good too.
