Dropped by Sardis Pond in Chilliwack this afternoon to check things out.
Right away I spotted two small grey geese grazing on the grass with the two monster graylag X baryard X Canada geese. I walked closer, and while they looked exactly like juv white-fronted geese, the surprise at seeing them here and so close, looking so small next to the big guys I had to study them. Yup, two white-fronted geese!! The second unexpected goose at Sardis Pond in the last two years (the brant was the last one).
Out on the water, there was a male redhead, probably arrival buffleheads and a greater scaup. Also at least 20 cackling geese. A great chance to study them!
