If you have been following along this will be my last report for several weeks... I came looking for shorebirds but sometimes a bird just insists on plunking down right next to you in perfect light Anyway I happily encountered plenty of shorebirds along the outer ponds - first there were Yellowlegs: Then Dowitchers Lots of Dowitchers Then Killdeer & a large flock of Western Sandpipers However out a little ways were a couple small & really skinny shorebirds - upon further review they appear to be Red-necked Phalaropes in 'winter' plumage That species is lifer #237 for us. While there I met a lady who said her life list was over 1000 - but she didn't think much of it as her friends had over 3K As far as the kids are concerned, hungry Mallards are the only species that matter. A good day was had by all.

Nice pic's...
The thing about life lists and people who keep them (like me) is that you remember when you first saw everybird.
