We took a fun walk around Reifel today. It was packed with photographers, tourists and birders. Along the slough at the entrance, there were thousands of Mallards and Pintails. They were packed together like sardines. At the far North West end, we found 22 Sandhill Cranes, a Northern Shrike and several small flocks of Dowitchers. As usual, everywhere we went, we were tripping over Mallards, being ambushed by them from behind bushes etc. in hopes of us feeding them.

Northern Shrike nice find along with the other great sightings Joanne and Bruce. Reifel is an awesome place to go anytime of the year but I find October the funnest time to go. Looking forward to the pictures. Were there any Snow Geese there?

Hi Chris; We did enjoy ourselves for sure. We got a record shot of the Shrike but nothing to post. The Snow Geese weren't there yet. Another thing of note, we didn't see one Canada Goose among the thousands of ducks there.
