We tried to go to Mount Seymour for a morning exercise hike today, but 2nd narrows bridge was a parking lot, so we headed out to Burnaby Lake instead and did a circuit.
1st half pretty cold, 2nd half rain, but we did get 36 species. (It's trying to snow now in Vancouver, so goodness knows what's happening for you guys in the valley)
Highlights:
Northern Flicker taking up residence in a tall snag Pine Siskins gathering nesting materials 2 large flocks of Yellow-rumped Warblers, maybe 40 or so altogether, including at least one Myrtle 1st Turkey Vulture of the year for us Lots of Ruby-crowned Kinglets singing and displaying their head gear 3 to 4 Rufus Hummingbird round the lake now
AND - 1st Orange-crowned Warbler of the season. Gord had mentioned expecting to see them any day - have any showed up in the valley yet?

THanks for sharing, Bryan. Think of whatever weather type you want and it would have fit into todays weather for sure. A little cloud, mist, drizzle, rain, snow, sun, even some hail.... Sure was cold today for the middle of April. I have plenty of Juncos on my feeders. I wonder when they will finally head out? Who knows what this wierd weather might blow in! Michigan had a White Wagtail this week. I am ready for one in the valley . Thanks for sharing,

Wow, good sized flocks of Yellow-rumped Warblers.
There hasn't been a report of Orange-crowned Warblers yet but I am sure there are a few of them in our region.
