Headed out to Reifel and Fen on Sunday to see what was out, a little cool and a bit windy.
Swung by BBay to catch the moon set and sunrise, got a few nice shots, there were a couple of SEO hunting and a few Harriers.
On the the drive to Reifel from Boundary came across a couple of unusual Flickers, a Eurasian-Collard Dove and a Creeper
A good start to the morn.
The Chickadee's were starting to nest. Took a few(lots) of shots to get one in flight.
The Saw-Whet was enjoying a meal and took a few shots, put one in the photo Gallery for you to see.
Got to the Tower and there were about 6 Tree Swallows flying around the nest boxes. Unfortunately the light was at the wrong angle and the shot didn't quit show the iridescent colors to well.
Hiked around the outer Dyke wow more dykes ;D. The Marsh wrens were out in force. Other than them not to much, pretty windy though.
Walked around the inner ponds and came across a Gadwall and a couple N Shoveler[/b]. As well Wigeons, L Scaups Pintails And a few Ring necks. The wind was not as strong on the center walks, gave me chance to warm up.
Not much else to see except on the drive out saw a Hawk, I believe it was a sharp shinned, but not sure.
So I headed to Fen, on the way there swung by the ferry causeway to see if the Herons were nesting, they were in the field but not in the trees.
Got to Fen and hiked up the river Dyke, theres another one :)and headed into the sanctuary.
Not to much around a few still windy here, there was a Merganser,Green-winged Teal out and a Pied-billed Grebe
It was getting late so I headed back. I have been trying to get a good shot of a Belted King Fisher for the last 3 months.
After my last try and chasing one from Kilby to the Fraser, I thought I would never get it.
Right by the bridge there one was it hadn't seen me so up I snook and got a few shots while it was hovering.
Next have to get one hitting the water.
On the way home thru ABBY saw this Coopers (N. Goshawk??) well it's a Hawk anyway .
Till next time thanks.
