Hi all.
I am 99.9% sure I heard a Western Screech owl Sunday morning at Kinsmen Park on the Little Mountain side at about 7:30 a.m.
I was attempting to call a pygmy owl, but gave up. Then about 5 minutes later I heard a series of hoot-like sounds that started at a moderate speed and then picked up in speed until it almost sounded like a squirrel chattering (which I thought it was at first, but the sound was of way different quality). Anyway I wasn't able to go look for it. 
, but I listened to the screech owl on the computer at home and it sounded almost identical. That's the first time I've heard (haven't seen it either) this owl, and if I recall correctly someone on the website mentioned they're becoming less common. So I was pretty excited.

P.S.--I noticed that the online Cornell Bird guide doesn't have Northern Pygmy owl at all--wonder why?
