Hi all decided to head out to Reifel to see if the SACR babies had hatched, sad to hear that one didn't make it. They were all close to the fenced area so I was able to get my shots . the baby was running back and forth along the path under mom's watchful eye. While shooting the crane Mrs Mallard brought her youngen's over. Got my shots that I wanted so headed around the rest of the trails. lots of babies everywhere, M. ducks and C. geese. These baby C. Geese were resting in the sun. ( oh yawn another loony with a camera)Did get a RB Nuthatch to feed from my hand cool , quite freindly it was. Also 3 BH Grosbeaks were seen. Heres one of them. Walked the outer dyke lots of swallows around Tree and Barns. Well headed over to see if I could get a shot of the GBH babies, most the nests were too high but I did luck out with this. Sorry that it's not to clear was using the 500+ 1.4x + 2x and manual focus. Birds for the day: 4- E.C. doves Redtail hawks Bald eagles Ospreys GB Herons A.Goldfinch H. Finches Savanah Sparrows RB Nuthatch BC Chickadees B-H Grossbeaks Sandhill cranes YR Warbler Brown Creeper Towhee 4- LB Dowitchers Tree swallows Barn Swallows Bank Swallows Wood Ducks Mallards Gadwells C Geese

Cute series of pictures Martin. I'm jealous of that Barn Swallow picture. I have been trying to get one for years now but haven't got close yet.

Those C.Geese babies were sleeping right in the middle of the path. I had to walk around them, they weren't moving for anything

Ian, Chris thanks for your comments. I have to use a extension tube to stack my NEW Canon tele's. It seems that when they came out with the new ones they redesigned them so they don't fit togheter now and they charge youy more too. Another draw back is try to focus, a smige of a turn on the ring and it's way out of focus.
