Awwww...I worried when I saw the tiny little island they had nested on that the chicks may drown The baby is absolutely adorable and hopefully I'll make it out there before he/she gets too big. I so enjoyed watching the little one grow last year!

I was told at Reifel that the wee survivor was born on Wednesday so he was 1 day old when the images were taken. I was lucky to catch him on Sunday as well.

Nice still going stong , hope to go this week end again. It was enjoyable to watch the mother teach it to peck the ground for food when I was there.Did you notice any new behaviours this time?

I also noticed that it was pecking the ground for seeds more on its own. The first day, mother provided seeds in her bill (which made for darling pics!). It also rested more (understandably). The wee one certainly is the Star of Reifel right now.
