Had a look today around the Hope airport. With all the great bird finds recently, I was hoping for a little local action. Nothing spectacular; just some good fall migration activity. There was a large mixed flock of HORNED LARKS, AND AMERICAN PIPITS feeding in the short grass of the airport strip. They were being constantly harrassed by 4 or 5 AMERICAN KESTREL, and a SHARP SHINNED HAWK. Two NORTHERN HARRIERS were also crusing the infield. On the sidelines a bright WESTERN KINGBIRD was hawking from a fencepost. At the Britol Island Slough, a GREATER YELLOWLEGS was foraging. Didn't see a single Warbler. Cheers. Thor
